Christmas Dinner Invitation

December 5th, 2007

I would like to thank everyone for their great response to the Christmas event this year and hope to see everyone next Tuesday, the 11th.

Wonderful things continue to happen at HPM.

Rooster’s has graciously committed to donate enough food for a dinner for everyone at Hoskins Park and Blessings in the Storm EVERY Monday.

We just need volunteers to help pick up the food from Rooster’s, deliver it to HPM, serve and clean up.

Rooster’s is on the back side of South Park Mall, Morrison Blvd. side. Coming down Tyvola, it turns into Fairview, turn left on Sharon, then left on Morrison Blvd.. Rooster’s is on the right.

This would be a great opportunity for your Life Group, or anyone not connected with Forest Hill, to help in this Ministry and with little or no monetary cost.

Please contact Paige Vestal via email or give her a call at 704-400-9755 to schedule your volunteer effort.

Thanks so much for everyone’s help and prayers for continued blessings in this Ministry.

Hope to see you December 11.

Bill Dinkel

Christmas Update

December 3rd, 2007
I would like to thank everyone for attending the HPM Planning Meeting on November 14.

This should be a great event and I look forward to seeing everyone from your Life Group attend.

Just to make sure everyone received the information that Paige Vestal handed out, I have attached the Agenda, Decorations Sign Up and the Meals for the 12 Days Before Christmas Sign Up Sheet to the end of this email.

As you may see, there are still some opportunities for helping if your group has not volunteered.

For more information and any questions, please contact Paige Vestal
I can also be reached at 704-488-2488.

Thanks so much and may God Bless.

Christmas at Hoskins Park

November 29th, 2007

I would like to thank all the Life Group Leaders and Impact Champions that met with Tom and Paige at Hoskins Park on November 14 to plan the events for the Hoskins Park and Blessings in the Storm Christmas Party. We had over 30 people there just for the planning meeting!

We would like to see as many people from Forest Hill Life Groups as possible to attend this Christmas event. The men of Hoskins are each hosting their own homes during the 12 Course Christmas Tour. Life Groups are volunteering to provide food and decorations for each house, as well as gifts.

Everyone is invited to meet at the Pond at 6PM on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Tom will start with a prayer and then everyone will tour each home and visit with the host of each house, sampling various foods and drinks and then ending with gifts under a tree and a Christmas service at the brick church on the corner. The ladies and children of Blessings in the Storm will also be in attendance.

Please make this a special event for everyone associated with HPM and plan to attend.

Should you have questions, please contact Paige Vestal and  I can always be contacted at 704-488-2488.

May God Bless.

Bill Dinkel.

Thanksgiving at Hoskins Park

November 26th, 2007

Thanksgiving was an especially great time for Hoskins Park Ministries this year.  First, we had the group, led by Linda Alley, serve us on the Sunday before.  They have been doing this for years and once again, it was fabulous.  Of course the 70 degree’s didn’t hurt either.  Go God!  It was great!!!!  And then we were taken aback by the hospitality of Jim Noble and all the volunteers that fed all our participants on Thanksgiving day at Rooster’s!  Wow!  God truly blessed us and gave us even more reason to be thankful!  We will never be able to express our gratitude for opening an entire restaurant just to serve us!  God, thanks for being so kind to us at Hoskins Park.  And for all you who support us, thanks for being such faithful servants.  We are truly grateful to have you in our lives!

May God bless you all 100 fold for your service to Him, through us.

First To Be Baptized In HPM Pond!

October 31st, 2007
by Clint Propst

I had the opportunity to be baptized out at the Hoskins Park Ministry pond on a beautiful, Fall Saturday afternoon in late October, 2007. I’m a Forest Hill Life Group leader and my life group has been serving at Hoskins Park since early 2006. My life group has been involved in helping to build this pond that’s focus would be for God’s reflection, fellowship and baptisms.

Being raised in a Christian home, I had never been baptized as a child nor growing up through my adolescent and young adult years. Baptism never seemed to be something that was relevant in my Christian walk until work began on this pond. God started to plant a seed within me and tugging at my heart to be baptized as work progressed on the pond and reached completion. I experienced the building of relationships with men living at Hoskins Park Ministry working on the pond together and watching God work through this ministry. It’s amazing how God has our lives planned out and that he decided it was time for me to be baptized on October 27, 2007. The act of baptism shows our inner love and commitment for Jesus Christ and the obedience that God calls upon us through a public profession of this faith. My hope is that many homeless and displaced men and women coming to Hoskins Park ministry will have their lives transformed for Jesus if they don’t know him personally as their savior. They will experience God’s love through this special pond and will feel led to be baptized through the death in our old self and live in our new self through Christ’s resurrection.

It meant so much to me to be baptized there as myself and others were able to participate in the building of this special pond in the inner city of Charlotte. The pond is such a place of tranquility in an area of Charlotte that often sees life’s strife and difficulty with the poor and homeless of this inner city community. I feel incredibly blessed by God to have so many family and friends there including Hoskins Park staff and residents encouraging and loving me!

Health Improvement Contest At Hoskins Park!

October 31st, 2007

To help participants and staff change unhealthy behaviors an incentive program is being conducted from mid November to mid January. The Health Improvement Contest is intended to motivate and support those involved with the ministry.  It is for a nine week period, November 13th to January 15th. Targeted behaviors are as follows: Weight Loss, Stopping Smoking, Stopping Using Drugs & Alcohol, Eating Better and Exercise.

Participants will keep logs of their activities and points will be awarded for those various activities.  All participants who achieve a certain level of points will win a prize.   A grand prize will be won by a participant in a drawing at the end of the program. See the document at this link for more details.

Help Needed: Prizes are needed for this program. I envision a variety of gift certificates that might be provided by local merchants and business owners.  It would be great to offer a terrific grand prize!!!

Please contact me if you are able to donate a prize of any sort that might be appropriate.  I can be contacted at dale@coachfletch.com or 704-542-3207 or contact Tom Wheeler at tawheeler@truevine.net.
