About Hoskins Park Ministries

Hoskins Park Ministries (HPM) is a Christian ministry whose primary purpose is to share the love of Christ with the poor and homeless by providing transitional housing facilities, clothing, food and other necessary support to those in need while adhering to the call of the Bible for Christians to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).

Currently Hoskins Park Ministries has 12 houses in northwest Charlotte, all within one block of each other and accommodate 42 previously homeless men.  We have a staff of 6 which includes; Tom Wheeler, Exec. Director, Johnny Allen, Program Director, Edwin Freeman, Lead Supervisor, Paige Vestal, Director of Administration, Tony Arzaga, Supervisor, and Cynde Frazier, Administrative Support.

Tom and Johnny officially co-founded Hoskins Park at its own 501c3 non-profit in 2006 although it was unofficially started in 2001 when Johnny first moved into the area and started taking men in off the street.  We take most men who come for help and trust the Spirit of Jesus Christ to change people from the inside out.  We are a ministry of grace because we believe it is God’s kindness that leads people to repentance.  (Romans 2:4)

Men of Hoskins Park

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself
(Deuteronomy 6:5, Leviticus 19:18 & Matthew 22:37-39)

Isaiah 58:6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. 9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk,10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
