Blankets Galore and Sponsorship Opportunities

Praise the Lord!  Hoskins Park Ministries just received a donation of 200 white 100% cotton thermal blankets!  They have a minor factory flaw (hardly noticeable, really!) but are otherwise beautiful!  And we’d like to give them away.  If you would like one, we are only asking that you make a minimum donation to Hoskins Park Ministries of $25.  But if you cannot afford the $25, please donate what you can or just pick one up for free!  It will be first come first served though so let us know and then come by 107 Cromer Street and get them (one per family though)!  They would make an excellent Christmas gift, by the way – they are that nice!  Or you could pick one up and take it to one of the shelters if you wanted to – then you could help two local charities!

We also have someone raising money for us through her running!  It happens to be my beloved wife Kate!  She has decided to run “The Goofy Challenge” at Disney World, Florida on our (HPM) behalf!  She will run a ½ marathon on January 10th and a full marathon on January 11th, for a total of 39.3 miles.  She is going to run the other .7 to make it a total of 40 miles!  And she is running for God’s poor at Hoskins Park Ministries!  Her goal is to raise $10,000 through sponsors like us!  So, if you think running 40 miles in two days for the poor is a good cause, then she’d (and we would to) appreciate your support.  You can either donate $1 per mile or $40 for the entire run or you can just make your donation of any amount in support of her run.

FYI – Our overhead is about $30,000 per month to support HPM.  We house approximately 35 men and have a full time staff of 5 with 3 of the staff living on site.  I don’t think we have any expenses that anyone would consider out of order.  Furthermore we have a gifted accountant who keeps our financial records in order, we are accountable to a faithful board of directors and two very supportive churches, Forest Hill and Steele Creek Church of Charlotte.  So whatever you give, you can be assured we are accountable for what we do with the funds.
